My Marketing Journey: From Canvas to Campaigns

If you had told me years ago that marketing would become my passion, I might not have believed you. My journey started small—just me, a lash kit, and a dream of creating something meaningful. As I meticulously applied each lash, crafted every post, and engaged with my growing clientele, I realized that what I loved most wasn’t just the beauty of the work—it was the connection. It was hearing my clients say, “You made me feel confident.” It was seeing how a simple story or image could make someone stop, smile, and say, “I want that.”

But I’ve always been a creator at heart. When I wasn’t building my lash business or studying for school, I found comfort in oil painting. There’s something magical about starting with a blank canvas and letting your imagination guide you. Each brushstroke is intentional, much like every decision in a marketing campaign. Painting taught me patience, attention to detail, and how to bring a vision to life—skills I carry with me into my work today.

At George Brown College, I found a way to blend these creative passions with strategy. From the very first class, I felt like I belonged. Marketing wasn’t just something I wanted to explore—it felt like my purpose.

As an Ambassador for the George Brown Marketing Association, I found joy in building relationships and creating opportunities for others to thrive. I saw how collaboration and community could amplify impact. In my courses, whether it was diving into data or presenting a creative pitch, I felt my confidence grow with every challenge.

Each late night spent perfecting an assignment, every nerve-wracking presentation, and every success—big or small—has shaped who I am today. GBC has been more than an education; it’s been a place where I’ve learned to dream bigger, work harder, and believe in myself.

My journey hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been mine. And as I step into the world of marketing, I carry with me not just skills and experiences, but a heart full of gratitude and a deep commitment to creating connections that matter. Because at the end of the day, marketing isn’t just about selling products—it’s about telling stories, inspiring others, and building something real.
